ASAE’s State of Associations report put numbers to what association leaders have been feeling this year. Amy Hissrich from ASAE joins Dan to get into the findings and what to do about them.

As Vice President of International Affairs at ASAE, Amy compiled the report from a year of pulse polls—a faster read than the usual benchmarking cycle. The findings put membership retention at the top of the challenge list, with revenue diversification right behind it, and meetings the hardest-hit revenue line. Her take on what it adds up to: revenue follows value, so the useful work starts with understanding what members need and why they stay.

In this episode, Amy and Dan cover how the report came together, what the associations adapting well have in common, how to tell the difference between what members value and what you hope they value, and what AI changes about the value of belonging.
